Meditations for Daily Growth
Obeying the Gospel
‘In the Right Church’ and Still Lost? (September 9)
If the congregation we’ve been a part of is not faithful to Christ, we need to worship elsewhere. But even if we’re surrounded by others who are faithful to Christ, the more important question is still about our own responsibilities before the Lord.
Diligently Seeking God
Good, Clean Godlessness (September 9)
The very respectability of our lives may mask a good deal of self-will and self-sufficiency. Godliness means that we do what we do “as to the Lord,” and there is a considerable distance between the life of self-governed goodness and the life of God-governed faith.
Reaching Forward
Bearing Burdens for a Long Time (September 9)
Let us not dictate to God the terms of our service to Him. He asks of us an unconditional commitment to serve under any circumstances. When our service involves difficulty, as it often will, let us endure. Even when we can’t see the end, let us still endure.
Enthusiastic Ideas
Food (September 9)
If we’ve lost touch with the enjoyment of our food, we need to return to that enjoyment as part of the simple life. Perhaps we would do well to turn back the hands of time. Remember how easy it was long ago to revel in the simple pleasures of innocent, God-given life?

Challenging Every Person to Take God More Seriously
Is devotion to God your primary passion? Our daily devotionals and Bible studies are designed to help you pursue this goal. More than mere fluff, our readings are “devotionals with a difference.” If you’re ready to reach toward spiritual growth, we’re here to support you.

Devotional Meditation
Rather than thinking about God casually, meditation is a deep pondering of His truth. When we meditate devotionally, the facts about God are given more than a “passing glance.” We think about them intently and lovingly so their meaning can truly sink in.

Daily Devotional Books
Unfortunately, many of the best-selling devotionals are popular not because they produce greater devotion to God but because they give the reader a sugary “high.” They aim to make the reader feel better, but they do little to stimulate significant spiritual growth.

Devotion to God
Devotional strength must be built up by constant, disciplined practice over time. Paul reminded his young friend Timothy of this when he said, “Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all” (1 Timothy 4:15).

DFBS 220 – It is truth that breaks the power of evil
It does not take physical strength or carnal tactics to win the battle over sin. It only takes the courage to refuse to settle for anything less than what is true. Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
