We need to make sure our daily example is one that leads our fellow Christians on the upward path of growth. And beyond setting a good example, we need to engage in teaching, admonishing, and prayer on behalf of our brethren in the Lord.
In Christ, each of us is blessed with the ability to serve. We need to be busy doing our part in the body of Christ. Ultimately, the Lord will judge our workmanship. Let’s work so as not to be ashamed of the quality of our efforts (2 Timothy 2:15).
Our attitudes are important. Let’s determine that our work will be helped, and not hindered, by the way we choose to think. Let’s make this a week of significant attitude improvement — and let’s be thankful for the work we can do together.
Life is rough. The negative pressures on our spiritual lives are heavy almost beyond our ability to bear. We need the Bible — and we need to see our need for the Bible, especially in our families. let’s make it our aim to study the Bible more!
Let’s take the opportunity to think this week about the error that is committed when we turn a family holiday into a religious observance. Let’s teach our children that the Bible is to be our guide in the matter of “special days.”
Throughout history God has shown that He keeps His word, and He has promised that in the end the history of this world will culminate in the glorious victory of truth and right. We need to believe that and let it guide our thoughts and actions.
Many of the things we would define as “good” because they draw us closer to God, the world would define as “bad.” For example, difficulty and pain can have a beneficial spiritual effect on us, but most people want as little of these as possible
Our relationship with God requires tending. If we actually love God and want to go to heaven, we will always be on the lookout for changes we need to make in our attitude and conduct so that we can be more fully pleasing to the Father.
The good things we can acquire and the good activities we can engage in are nothing compared to the good things of the life to come. And if we don’t give priority to our eternal blessings, our temporal blessings will give us grief in the long run.
When Jesus died for us, He freed us from the sentence of death. “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5).
